6. Split Rock Lighthouse
The Split Rock Lighthouse is smaller than the average lighthouses across the U.S., But it’s also considered one of the most picturesque lighthouses in the country. It’s right above Lake Superior, in Minnesota.
It was built back in 1910 in response to the tremendous loss of ships during the Mataafa Storm, where almost 30 ships were damaged or got lost. You can easily visit the interior of this historic building.
Outside the lighthouse, you can admire the whole view of Lake Superior. The ideal time to visit would be during the spring when the weather is nice and so are the sunsets.

Thank you for the beautiful photos, they’re exquisite. You should also include Rocky Mountain Park, Estes, Colorado. I’ve only been once, makes you feel like you’ve entered another world, it was beautiful and if you go to the top of the trail, you’ll see snow capped mountains in the middle of summer.
Beautiful pictures — some of these places I have visited. Seeing the wonderful pictures was almost worth the aggravation of all the commercials!
Well, Yellowstone National Park is my ALL TIME favorite destination in the USA.–even before I saw this article. However, I do think TETON NATIONAL PARK and the “Going to the Sun” highway is pretty spectacular.
