11. Request a Ground-Floor Room

No. 11 on our free travel checklist for seniors focuses on the accessibility of the hotel. You don’t always get to find a nice, senior-friendly hotel that provides easy access to the main attractions and a peaceful and quiet environment.

However, if climbing stairs is difficult for you, at least request a first-floor room. While not being so close to the main attractions of the place may be something you can deal with, not being able to leave or get back to your room is something that can really ruin your vacation.

Also, do some research to see what easy transportation options you have when choosing a hotel.

12. Pack Light

Here’s the last piece of advice from our free travel checklist for seniors: pack light! Packing your suitcase so it’s portable and lightweight will make it easier for you to carry around.

To save room, roll your clothes instead of folding them, or use packing cubes to better organize your stuff. This will help you fit more clothes into a single bag.

Another trick that helps a lot is creating an essentials-only packing list. Think about your planned activities during vacation, and pick things you know you can wear multiple times.
