9. Wichita Mountains Wildlife Refuge
The Wichita Mountains Wildlife Refuge is located in Oklahoma, near Lawton. It’s been protecting important and unique wildlife specimens since the beginning of the 1900s. It’s a quiet and undisturbed place with mixed-grass prairie, which makes it the perfect conservation area.
There are over 240 bird species, 30 species of fish, and over 50 types of mammals. If you’re lucky enough you can see the wild animals living their best and unbothered life. Looking at the photo displayed above, we wish we could’ve lived there as well.

Thank you for the beautiful photos, they’re exquisite. You should also include Rocky Mountain Park, Estes, Colorado. I’ve only been once, makes you feel like you’ve entered another world, it was beautiful and if you go to the top of the trail, you’ll see snow capped mountains in the middle of summer.
Beautiful pictures — some of these places I have visited. Seeing the wonderful pictures was almost worth the aggravation of all the commercials!
Well, Yellowstone National Park is my ALL TIME favorite destination in the USA.–even before I saw this article. However, I do think TETON NATIONAL PARK and the “Going to the Sun” highway is pretty spectacular.
