We all enjoy escaping the scene every now and then, whether it’s on a sunny beach, hiking in the mountains, or going to the countryside in an RV. We still manage to have the best time ever.

1. Traveling can make your heart stronger

As we’ve mentioned before, traveling will help you ease some tension and provide you with some relaxation, which is also why it makes sense that it has a good impact on your mental health.

Stress is known as the main cause of many health-related issues. Multiple scientists have discovered that taking a vacation once in a while will help you with your stress and decrease the chances of a heart attack.

3. The longest flight ever lasted 30 hours

Wow, that’s impressive—almost like it was surgery! This commercial flight took passengers from Australia all the way to Sri Lanka. This route started in 1943 and ended in 1945. Nowadays, the longest flight is the one from Singapore to New York.

4. The busiest airport is Hartsfield-Jackson Airport

Atlanta wins the title in this one. You may have thought that LAX gets this one; however, Hartsfield-Jackson Airport is welcoming over 110 million tourists. That being said, this airport is the busiest in the world!

Atlanta takes the jackpot (I guess?!).

5. Over 60,000 people fly over the U.S. at the same time as you

It seems like a lot of people, doesn’t it? Well, it’s true; more than 60,000 people will be up in the air just like you are. It may feel like you’re the only one up there in the skies, but in reality, there are thousands of people feeling the same as you at any given time.

6. Co-pilots aren’t allowed to eat the same things as the pilots

There’s a standard protocol that says the two must be served different meals. It sounds a little bit odd, doesn’t it? In fact, there’s a totally logical explanation for it; it’s not some hierarchical thing, but if one needs to go to the toilet or gets food poisoning, the other must be able to take over.

We would’ve never thought of that!

7. Money or gifts make you less happy compared to traveling

I know it sounds like the biggest cliche, but it’s true: money spent on a trip will bring you much more happiness than an ordinary gift or money in general. This proves that memories and a fun time are more fulfilling than any material thing.

8. You know those lines in the sky? You won’t believe what those are

Water vapors! Those trails left behind by planes are nothing more than just vapors of water. What’s even more interesting is the fact that the way the line looks will predict the weather. For example, if the line is short, then the weather will be good and so will the humidity, but if it’s long, then you should expect some storms to come along soon.

Never would’ve thought about it!

9. You will be surprised to learn which city has the most hotel rooms

The city that never sleeps, Las Vegas, has the most hotel rooms in the world! That is quite impressive! There are over 150,000 rooms in the whole city. Good luck trying to pick one that suits you.

10. What’s the tallest mountain in the world? It’s not Everest

Lots of people seem to believe it’s Mount Everest, but that’s far from being true. It’s actually Mauna Kea, located on the island of Hawaii. It’s not exactly a mountain; it’s more of a dormant volcano. It’s as tall as 32,000 feet starting from the seafloor, twice the base-to-peak height of Mount Everest.

11. You know that door on the plane that you can’t open? Well…

You can’t physically open it. Ignore all of the action movies you’ve seen so far; because of the high pressure and the air, it’s impossible to open it; basically, the air shuts the door. That still doesn’t mean you should try to open it!

12. Oh, and about the Liberty Bell

You know the Liberty Bell in Philadelphia, but what you don’t know is that it has a spelling mistake. If you take a closer look, you’ll notice that the name of the state is spelled wrong; it’s “Pennsylvania.”.

Fun fact: It’s spelled the same way in the Constitution, but there are a lot of scholars who agree that it’s correct both ways.

13. Central Park is bigger than a country

That’s a travel fact we never expected! We already knew that this breathtaking place was huge, but how big is it really? Well, it’s apparently bigger than Monaco. Either Monaco is too small or Central Park is bigger than it needs to be.

Looking at the bright side, if you ever feel the need to travel, you can take some time off to do a full tour of the park. It will feel the same way.

14. A state that has more cows than residents

In South Dakota, the number of cows is four times bigger than the number of residents. Yes, that is indeed correct. The cow-to-people ratio is over 4%. And with that, South Dakota takes the prize for the state with the most bovines.

15. Feeling more creative and relaxed is because…

Some researchers say that after going on a vacation or trip, people’s creativity and relaxation levels increase. Traveling actually encourages people to feel more positive about life. Well, in that case, we have the perfect excuse for our boss whenever we want to take a vacation!

16. It’s never 100 degrees in Florida, well, not quite

Florida tends to get very warm; however, the highest recorded temperatures ever were 99 degrees Fahrenheit, and that was in the ’80s. Even though we could swear it’s sometimes 150 degrees because our bodies feel like they’re melting, it’s all just in our heads.

17. Did you know there’s a royal palace in the U.S.?

There’s only one palace of this sort in the whole country, and it is located in Honolulu. It is right downtown, and nowadays, it’s a symbol of Hawaiian independence. The Iolani Palace was built in 1882, and it was the home of the last monarchs, more specifically King Kalakaua and his sister Queen Lili’uokalani.

18. You know those stories of people losing their luggage?

You will be shocked to learn that every minute, almost 50 pieces of luggage are lost.

19. Flying from one specific part to another amplifies jet lag

Quite unexpected, and to be frank with you, odd. Traveling from the west to the east amplifies the process.
