West Cornwall Covered Bridge, Cornwall, CT

Nature lovers seem to flock to Housatonic Meadows State Park, Connecticut’s only stretch of the Appalachian Trail, for riverside picnicking, hiking, and camping among 10,000 acres of foliage.

As you drive through the area, keep your eye out for the West Cornwall Covered Bridge.

It’s a red wooden landmark designed by Connecticut native Ithiel Town. It’s also known as Hart Bridge, and you’ll find it situated over the Housatonic River.

The covered bridge is one of the oldest covered bridges in the state, and you can also catch a glimpse of it in the movie Valley of the Dolls.
